It’s important to bring everything you need when you travel, but at the same time, it can be impractical to pack too much. Here is a list of all the essential stuff to bring on your trip. We advise you to print this article out so you can make a checklist and make sure you have everything when you go!
Essentials
In order to even travel, you need a few basic things:
- Passport
- Travel documents (visa
- Credit card
- Money
- Phone
- Phone charger
- Suitcase
- (Insurance card)
- (Driver’s license)
A passport is necessary for anyone who wants to travel internationally. A credit card will be needed to pay for things, but don’t forget some cash either. Having a phone with you is an obvious choice – make sure you bring the charger too!
You will need a good suitcase for traveling. There are different sizes, and we recommend getting a medium-sized one since it allows you to pack a lot of stuff, but it won’t take up too much space while traveling.
Clothes
Make sure you have enough clothes, and double-check if you have everything.
- Shirts
- Underwear
- Pants
- Shorts
- Socks
- Sweater
- Jacket
- Belt
- Footwear
- Bathing suit
- Any additional clothes
Of course, the specific amount of clothes depending on the length of your trip. If you go on a 7-day trip, you should bring 7 pairs of underwear, 7 shirts, 7 socks, 2 pairs of pants, a jacket or coat, and any additional clothes you want – for a woman it could be a few dresses, skirts, nylons, and for a man it could be a suit.
Healthcare
We also recommend bringing some basic first-aid or healthcare items, such as:
- Band-aids
- Disinfectant
- Mild pain killers
- Anti-malaria medicine if you’re going to a tropical region
- Specific medicine that you take
Obviously, some band-aids and disinfectants are always important to have on hand. Mild painkillers can also be useful. Depending on your situation, you might also need some personal medication – be sure to remember it if so!
Practical items
Many practical and personal items are also good to bring. Here are some common examples:
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Shaving razor

- Small mirror
- Smaller bag for going to the beach, hiking, etc.
Many of these things are cheap and can be bought upon arrival. But some people prefer bringing their own, which is also easiest. Most of them are for both men and women, while a few of the items are specific for each gender.
Entertainment
Some items might also be good to have for pure entertainment or hobby use.
- Laptop
- Tablet
- Camera
- Earphones

It’s always nice to be able to watch a movie on the plane or play a game while waiting for the train. Of course, some of these items like the laptop and the camera are also necessities for people who are working on the road.
